FOREVER FERTILE
Read it again. Notice what your mind just did with it.
If the word sent your thoughts toward a body, a womb, a ticking clock, good. That reflex is the whole reason this exists. We have been taught to file a woman's worth under a single biological function, and to quietly retire her when that function ends.
But look at the species. Humans are one of the only animals on Earth whose females live for decades after they stop bearing children. Evolution keeps nothing by accident. It kept us for our knowledge, our wisdom, the things we build and lead and hold together. Out in the ocean, it is the old whales, long past bearing young, who lead the whole pod to food when the waters run empty. They are kept alive because they know.
That is what fertility actually is. Not a season of the body. A way of being in the world, endlessly generative, making ideas and work and art and each other, right to the end.
I loved being a mother. As I nursed my youngest child my body was continuing to bring him life force. It was when I began to wean and made the choice to no longer have more children, I felt like the purpose of my body had been complete, and I wondered what a woman's worth was. Fast forward eight years later came the divorce, and the ground I organized my whole life around was suddenly gone. For a while, all I could see was what I had lost. But underneath the fear was a harder, clearer question. When the support ends and the structure comes down, what will I be standing on? Only what I built. So I decided to start building, and I bought a bus.
Forever Fertile is a mobile studio, a space for women to come together over tea, over ritual, over the making of things. It moves, because we do. It shows up, because women have always needed rooms of our own and rarely been handed them. We gather to create, to teach, to remember what we are for.
Your body was never the measure. Come make something that outlasts you.
